History
Philip S. Collins founded CUH2A with a visionary project for the 1964’s World’s Fair; a celebration of a future filled with optimism. Built on a legacy of creative energy and specialized expertise, CUH2A continues to extend its reach into the global scientific community. From this inception, CUH2A has been committed to integrating architecture, engineering and planning.
HDR was established originally as an engineering company in 1917. Today, HDR Architecture, a wholly owned subsidiary of HDR, Inc., is an employee-owned, integrated architecture, engineering and planning firm specializing in the planning and design of technologically advanced facilities for healthcare and science.
On June 30, 2008, HDR Architecture merged with CUH2A, forming the world's most comprehensive S+T design firm. The combination of one of the world’s leading healthcare design firms (HDR) with the world’s largest S+T design firm (CUH2A) brought together expertise across the entire spectrum of the rapidly converging fields of life sciences, physical sciences and healthcare. And now, HDR CUH2A is contributing to the scientific and technological advancements of the 21st century.
